THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED and the winner was comment number 17, Dennis Cavernelis.
If you follow me on Instagram, you will see that I’m a bit of a homemaker (is it because I’m a Cancerian?). I grew up in a house where there were always garden-picked flowers in a vase, a tablecloth on the table and a cake being mixed in a bowl. This was much easier on a farm I suppose, when you’re weren’t constantly sitting in traffic and doing the school run, but it still hasn’t stopped me from wanting to make my home a beautiful space, with the limited time my life will allow.
I love interiors and I especially like locally made things that are gorgeous to look at. Lulu Designs is SA’s first print-on-demand design/decor business, letting you create your own beautiful spaces by picking from a wealth of design talent such as Heleen van Buul, Susan Caras, Leanne Hatch and Micklyn Le Feuvre. You can find out more about them here.
Lulu Designs prints tableware (think serviettes and place mats), scatter cushions, pouches for make up/pencil crayons, tote bags, ceramic mugs for grown ups and the cutest little melamine mugs for kids. I’ve been struggling with cups for my kids – all of the ones in the shops are really quite ugly but these are just beautiful and can hold hot tea or cooldrink/water, plus you can personalise them with their names!
We got sent some to review, plus the placemats, and I love how these two simple items have made meal times much more fun for my kids and turned them into an occasion. The placemats are heat resistant and the mugs have since been dropped a few times and have survived unscathed! The mugs are R100 each and the placemats are R114 (but if you buy more mats in a set, they obviously get cheaper). Take a browse at all the lovely designs – I want them all! The Space Apes below is designed by Heleen Van Buul.
I also got sent some beautiful grey Pattern Play placemats for the grown-ups which are great for whipping out at dinner time – there’s something very solid about them compared to cloth placemats which also need to be cleaned often (these can just be given a quick wipe). Take a look at some of the drool-worthy placemat designs below. Complete the look with a gorgeous table runner and you’re all set!
Everything on this site would make such great gifts for both adults or kids, or something to buy yourself to add a bit of beauty to your home. Lulu Designs also produces gorgeous phonecases that are well worth a look – mine recently protected my iPhone from a fall down a few flights of stairs!
***WIN your own kiddie’s set of tableware***

Plus you’ll also get two kiddies placemats that you can personalise with their names, so meal times are about to get a lot more fun! You can choose which designs you want, depending on stock availability (will it be the cute hedgehogs? Or the owls? Or the foxes?)
This prize is worth just under R500 once you factor delivery in, which normally costs R75.
