I’m Belinda Mountain – welcome to my women’s lifestyle blog about being a mother, business owner, wife and South African (in no particular order). I started Making Mountains in 2012 as a way to record my thoughts as I work, live, love and parent: shaping the little molehills that are my kids into becoming Mountains. Besides parenting I also blog about travel, style, books, food, health and all the other good stuff that makes up a life.

My “day job” is being one half of content generation agency Black Mountain , with my business partner Catherine Black. Before this I worked in book publishing in the UK and SA for a range of different companies – from the iconic Penguin Books to the romance experts Mills & Boon.

I grew up on a farm in the Eastern Cape, studied in Cape Town and then travelled around the world before settling in Joburg with my entrepreneur/surfer husband Gareth. We had our World Cup baby Rachel in 2010 and our son Ben joined us in 2013, completing our family of four. After seven wonderful years in the City of Gold we packed up our things at the end of 2015 and moved to the Mother City.

I dislike windy weather (chose the wrong city to call home!), raisins and parallel parking. And I really like good books, red jelly babies and changing my hair.

Thanks for visiting.
