Did you think after my last post that you had lost me?! Nope, I just needed a little break, which we just had in McGregor (what a special place). I’m back home now, but tomorrow we go on a proper ten-day holiday, so there may not be much going on here, just so you know. Or, I may get struck with fresh inspiration and just write and write. We’ll see.

So what have I been up to in the past few weeks? It’s been cold and rainy and windy here in Cape Town – a ‘proper’ Cape winter, with rain we desperately need. But this does mean that the kids go a little cross-eyed crazy cooped up in the house. With this in mind, Toy Kingdom asked us to come instore and experience all the fun interactive activities they have available during the school holidays, far away from any screens of any sort. They also wanted us to celebrate Dads as we did it, seeing that June is the month that we celebrate Fathers. This sounded like a great plan to me. Continue Reading…

Excuse the soppy title but when it comes to Norma, I get that way sometimes. Norma is our domestic helper and nanny who has worked for us for nine years, since we came back to live in South Africa and first put down roots in Joburg. Norma has been there to witness me sobbing over a newborn, not knowing what on earth to do. She’s comforted me through losing my mom, she’s helped care for Gareth through a back surgery and she’s generally looked after our family for almost a decade now.
